BRERETON AND RAVENHILL PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of a meeting of the Parish Hall and Property Management Committee held at the Parish Hall, Ravenhill Park, Brereton, on Wednesday, 6th November 2019.
Present
Alderman R Easton [Chairman] and Councillors K Ansell, Mrs P Ansell, Mrs DM Easton,
Mrs G Harvey, JC Harvey and Mrs L Johnson.
An apology for absence was received from Councillor DR Johnson.
Mr PG Davies [Parish Clerk] was also present.
DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
No declarations of interest were given at the commencement of the meeting.
MINUTES
RESOLVED
That the minutes of the meeting held on 2nd October 2019, be approved and signed as a correct record.
BUS SHELTERS
The Clerk reported that the Agreement relating to the bus shelters had been signed by all parties and following receipt of the monies from Brereton Million, a cheque would be send to Shelutions.
The Committee noted that Shelutions had been asked to liaise closely with the Chairman as the scheme progressed.
ERECTION OF BOLLARDS AND PARKING PROBLEMS
The Clerk circulated a letter from Mike Edmonds, Head of Environment and Healthy Lifestyles at Cannock Chase District Council.
Arising from the discussion on the contents of the letter, it was
RESOLVED
That the Clerk respond to Mr Edmonds requesting:-
his response to the comments made in the Clerk’s earlier letter regarding the siting of the new bollards and the problems with access for emergency vehicles, and
him to clarify the position as to which barrier he was referring to as parking on the running track would be problematic, particularly when trying to achieve proper access for cars throughout the day.
That in the letter in (1) above, the Clerk confirm that the Parish Council would provide marshalls to assist with the parking arrangements.
PLANTERS
Brereton Million had advised that if the Parish Council were to maintain the planters, then only fruit and vegetables could be grown.
RESOLVED
That in view of this response, the offer of the planters be declined and Brereton Million be asked to arrange for their removal.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
The Chairman asked for volunteers to assist him with the erection of the following in the tennis court:-
Christmas Lights
Father Christmas
Christmas Tree
Several Members indicated their willingness to assist the Chairman.
PARISH HALL – PROGRESS REPORT
Hire Fee Income – Update
The Committee noted details of hire fee income for the month of October 2019 as compared with the same period last year.
Curtains
The Chairman was thanked for arranging for the purchase and erection of curtains to form a backdrop to the stage. One more curtain was required to complete the work and the Chairman was authorised to arrange for its purchase from the same supplier as previously.
Karate
RESOLVED
That due to the cost, no further action be taken for the time being on the purchase of drop mats but if numbers in the class significantly increased, then the Committee would be prepared to reconsider the matter.
‘Good v Bad’
The Committee noted some examples of ‘Good v Bad’ which had been produced by John Smith, the Caretaker.
Members concurred that this was a good way of encouraging hirers to leave rooms as found and it was therefore:
RESOLVED
That ‘Good v Bad’ posters be displayed in the Main Hall, kitchen and near the bookcase in the foyer.
Purchase of Buffer for Floor
The Caretaker had prepared a Power Point presentation on the benefits of purchasing an electric ‘buffer’ for the floor in the Main Hall.
RESOLVED
That the Caretaker be thanked for his presentation and the Clerk ascertain the model, make,
size and cost of the ‘buffer’ and he liaise with the Chairman on whether the item should be purchased.
FINANCE REPORT
The Report of the Clerk showing the income and expenditure for the Parish Hall as at 1st October 2019, was received for information and noted.

That the next meeting be held on 8th January 2020, at 7.30 p.m.
