BRERETON AND RAVENHILL PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of a meeting of the Finance and Management Committee held at the Parish Hall, Ravenhill
Park, Brereton, on Wednesday, 11th January 2017.
Present
Councillors Miss IJ Brown [Chairman], Mrs DM Easton and R Easton.
Apologies for absence were received from Councillors H Farnath, Miss C Harvey, Mrs G Harvey
and Mrs HJ Southwell.
Mr PG Davies, the Parish Clerk, was also in attendance.
1. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
There were no declarations given at the commencement of the meeting.
2. MINUTES
RESOLVED
That the minutes of the meeting held on 2nd November 2016, be approved and signed as a
correct record.
3. ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT
The Clerk circulated a schedule of accounts for payment.
RESOLVED
That authority be given for the payments included on the submitted schedule.
4. FINANCE REPORT
The Report of the Clerk showing the financial position of the Parish Council as at
30th November 2016, was received for information and noted by the Committee.
5. CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
RESOLVED
That the Clerk when writing to Lightpower Limited to thank them for providing two additional
features at no cost to the Parish Council, point out that one of the features was erected on
the wrong column and that, in future, it should be sited on column C4 Brereton Road [near
Wharf Road].
6. STAFFORDSHIRE PENSION SCHEME – DISPUTE PROCEDURE
RESOLVED
That the Parish Clerk be nominated as the responsible officer at Stage 1 to deal with any
disputes under the internal resolution procedure of the Superannuation Scheme.
7. THE PENSION REGULATOR
The Clerk had received a letter from the Pension Regulator advising the Parish Council of
the automatic enrolment procedure.
The Committee noted that the scheme did not apply to the Parish Council’s two employees
as they were already members of the County Council Superannuation Scheme and did not
require any further pension provision.

The Clerk undertook to inform the Pension Regulator accordingly.
8. CHETWYND’S CHARITY
The Clerk circulated a letter and enclosure from Chetwynd’s Charity inviting the Parish
Council to consider making a donation for the current financial year.
RESOLVED
That in view of the financial constraints on the Parish Council [a reduction of over
£10,000.00 in funding from the District Council], no action be taken.
9. PENSION FORUM
The Clerk circulated the agenda and supporting papers from the Pension Forum held on
22nd November 2016.

That the next meeting be held on 8th February 2017, at 8.00 p.m.
