BRERETON AND RAVENHILL PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of a meeting of the Finance and Management Committee held at the Parish Hall, Ravenhill
Park, Brereton, on Wednesday, 8th February 2017.
Present
Councillors Miss IJ Brown [Chairman], K Ansell, Mrs P Ansell, Mrs DM Easton, R Easton,
Miss C Harvey and Mrs G Harvey.
Apologies for absence were received from Councillors H Farnath and Mrs HJ Southwell.
Mr PG Davies, the Parish Clerk, was also in attendance.
1. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
There were no declarations given at the commencement of the meeting.
2. MINUTES
RESOLVED
That the minutes of the meeting held on 11th January 2017, be approved and signed as a
correct record.
3. ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT
The Clerk circulated a schedule of accounts for payment.
RESOLVED
That authority be given for the payments included on the submitted schedule.
[Councillors Mrs P Ansell, Mrs DM Easton, R Easton declared an interest in this item and
took no part in the discussion or voting thereon.]
4. FINANCE REPORT
The Report of the Clerk showing the financial position of the Parish Council as at
31st December 2016, was received for information and noted by the Committee.
5. CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FUND
The Committee considered the possibility of starting a ‘Christmas Lights Fund’. Members
also discussed the possibility of participating in the Brereton Carnival where, it was hoped,
contributions would be received towards the fund.
RESOLVED
That the Clerk include an appropriate item on the Parish Council Agenda, when further
consideration could be given to the Parish Council’s possible participation in the carnival.
6. LOCAL GOVERNMENT PENSION SCHEME REGULATIONS 2013 – ILL HEALTH
LIABILITY INSURANCE
The Clerk reported that in 2014 the Staffordshire Pension Fund had taken out an insurance
policy with Legal and General to provide cover for additional pension liability arising from ill
health retirement pension benefit. There had been no extra cost to employers.
The Committee noted that the Administering Authority had ended the policy with Legal and
General on 31st March 2016, and the cover was now being provided in-house, again at no
extra cost to employers.
