BRERETON AND RAVENHILL PARISH COUNCIL
Minutes of a meeting of the Planning Committee held at the Parish Hall, Ravenhill Park, Brereton,
on Tuesday, 4th December 2018.
Present
Councillors TA Jones [Chairman], PA Fisher, Mrs W Fisher and GN Molineux.
Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Mrs P Ansell and N Parton.
Mr PG Davies, the Parish Clerk, was also in attendance.
1. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
There were no declarations given at the commencement of the meeting.
2. MINUTES
RESOLVED
That the minutes of the meeting held on 6th November 2018, be approved and signed as a
correct record.
3. PLANNING DECISION
The Committee noted the following planning decision:-
Approval
CH/18/261
Demolition of existing public house and associated buildings and the erection of a
replacement office building with mixed D1/B1 use [re-submission of CH/17/237]
The Academy Early Years Childcare, Main Road.
4. PLANNING APPLICATION
That the following comments be submitted to the District Council on the planning application
listed below:-
CH/18/413
Proposed Development – Extension to existing unit to create a new unit [B1] and erection of
new 2-storey building to create workshop to ground floor and ancillary offices to 1st floor [B1
or B8 use
7 Brick Kiln Way
No objection subject to a condition to restrict working at night, Saturday afternoons and all
day Sundays and Bank and Public Holidays in view of the proximity of the site to Pinetrees.
5. SHALE GAS – CONSULTATION
The Committee noted details of a consultation launched by the Government that asked
whether local communities should be consulted on shale gas proposals in England before
planning applications were submitted. The deadline for submissions was 7th January 2019.
RESOLVED
That the Chairman be authorised to prepare a response on behalf of the Parish Council.

6. PROTECTION OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS
The Committee expressed concern that Cannock Chase District Council was not exercising
its powers to protect historic buildings and, accordingly, it was
RESOLVED
That the following Freedom of Information request be submitted to the District Council:-
“This request for information is made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, all other
rights to information and the Nolan principle of openness.
Please identify in respect of the last 5 years all occasions on which Cannock Chase District
Council has exercised a statutory power to protect a heritage asset.
In this request, the phrase ‘statutory power’ includes:
A notice under Town and Country Planning Act 1990, section 215;
Compulsory acquisition under Town and Country Planning Act 1990, section 226 or the
Planning [Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas] Act 1990, section 47;
Action under the Planning [Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas] Act 1990, sections 48,
54 and 76;
Any other power that Cannock Chase District Council has used to protect a heritage asset.”
